Guelph, ON – June 27-29, 2025 – Canada proudly hosted its inaugural international Teqball tournament in Guelph this past weekend, drawing 33 athletes representing 12 countries from four continents. The Toronto Teqball Sport Club, affectionately known as "The Wolverines," made a significant impact, fielding 17 competitors in this historic event.
The tournament showcased intense competition and remarkable skill from around the globe. The Wolverines achieved outstanding results across various categories, highlighting the burgeoning talent within the Canadian Teqball scene.
A standout performance came from Milan Zsibok of The Wolverines, who clinched the gold medal in the men's singles category. Zsibok displayed dominant form in the final, overpowering Mexico's Aaron Servin with a commanding 12-6, 12-1 victory.
Servin's path to the final included a very close and hard-fought semi-final match against another strong Wolverines competitor, Robert Kertesz. Kertesz, however, went on to secure the bronze medal in a decisive match against another Mexican athlete, Afdel Yair Parra Sanchez. Congratulations to both Milan and Robert for their impressive achievements!
In the men's doubles final, the formidable Wolverines pair of Robert Kertesz and Milan Zsibok faced off against the experienced Brazilian-American duo of Dennis Correia (USA) and Leonardo Santana (BRA). While the Wolverines put up a valiant effort in an exciting match, the Brazilian pair's greater experience ultimately prevailed. The Toronto Teqball Sport Club also secured fourth place in this category, with the promising young talent Adam Szedlak teaming up with veteran Zoltan Zsibok.
The mixed doubles category saw an internal Wolverines battle for the bronze medal. Dishit Jain and Aline Ansara emerged victorious, claiming the bronze against fellow Wolverines Isadora Bittencourt and Clio Castro.
The women's singles bronze medal match was also an all-Wolverines affair, featuring two Brazilian-born competitors from the club, Aline Ansara and Isadora Bittencourt. After a thrilling contest, Aline Ansara emerged with the bronze medal.Big thank you our coach Zoltan Demeter!
Congratulations to all the Wolverines athletes for their dedication and impressive performances at Canada's first international Teqball tournament!
