Teqvoly combines the unique curved Teqball table with the exciting dynamics of volleyball, creating a fast-paced, highly engaging sport played with your hands and arms. Here are the core rules to get you started in this thrilling game:
The Basics
Players: Teqvoly is typically played by two teams of two players (doubles).
Objective: The objective is to hit the ball over the net so that it bounces once on your opponent's side of the Teqball table, making it difficult for them to return.
No Contact: Players are forbidden from touching the table or their opponents during play.
Serving
Serving Position: The server stands behind the end line of the table.
Serving Motion: The ball must be hit with one hand or any part of the arm after being tossed or released from the hand(s).
Valid Serve: The serve must bounce only once on the opponent's side of the table.
Attempts: Each team gets two attempts to make a valid serve.
Service Rotation: Teams change service after every 4 points.
No Consecutive Body Parts: The server cannot use the same body part to hit the ball two times in a row when serving.
Returning the Ball
Maximum Touches: Each team has a maximum of 3 touches to return the ball to the opponent's side.
Minimum Passes: A minimum of 1 pass is required between teammates before returning the ball to the opponent's side.
Alternating Touches: Passes between teammates must alternate (e.g., Player A touches, then Player B touches, then Player A touches, before returning).
No Consecutive Player Touches: A player cannot hit the ball twice consecutively unless specified by the net bounce rule.
Ball Bounce: The returned ball must bounce only once on the opponent's side of the table.
Hands/Arms Only: The ball must be hit with hands or arms.
Spiking:
Downward spiking is only allowed if the player is outside the designated playing lines (usually marked on the ground around the table). If inside the lines, the ball must have an upwards trajectory. Jumping spikes: Players must land with both feet outside the lines after a jumping spike.
Scoring
Points: A set is won when a team reaches 12 points.
Winning by Two: In the final decisive set, a team must win by at least a two-point margin (e.g., 12-10, 13-11).
Sets: A match is typically won by winning the best of three sets.
Doublepoint: Each team has the option to request a "doublepoint" once per set. If they win that rally, they score 2 points instead of 1. This can only be requested if the team has not yet reached 10 points.
Faults & Penalties
A point is awarded to the opponent if:
A team uses more than 3 touches to return the ball.
A player touches the table with any part of their body.
A player hits the ball with their foot or any other body part besides hands/arms.
A player hits the ball twice consecutively (unless specified by the net bounce rule).
The returned ball bounces more than once on the opponent's side.
A serve is invalid after two attempts.
The ball hits the side of the table (a "side fault").
The half-way line is crossed (unless passing the ball backwards to a teammate for a save).
A player interferes with an opponent.
A player steps inside the lines when spiking downwards (unless the ball has an upwards trajectory).
Teqvoly offers a fantastic blend of volleyball strategy and the unique bounce of the Teqball table, making every rally dynamic and exciting!
